This week's social and mobile marketing roundup (Small Business E-commerce Link Digest – March 2, 2012)
Have you ever lost your phone? Research suggests that most people can’t stand not having their phone nearby. No one doubts that we’re now a completely connected, always on, totally tethered society. According to ComScore, consumers use the mobile web regularly for social, search, email and access information. Here’s this week’s list of how you can make the most of that social, local, mobile web:
- First, Amy Porterfield at Social Media Examiner looks at 3 steps to an effective social media strategy
- Of course, even the best strategy poorly executed will fail. What do I mean by “poorly executed?” Well, Amber Marcos at FastCompany provides “perfect” examples of 5 stupid social media mistakes to lose friends and fail with followers.
- Jon Gelberg on Inc. Magazine’s site explains why your homemade website isn’t cutting it anymore. I agree, with one caveat. Some 60% of all businesses in the United States don’t have a website at all. I think you’re better off with a home built website than none at all (and there are lots and lots and lots and lots of tools to help you with a simple website). Just don’t discount the value of a professional site, too.
- Once you’ve got a site, Search Engine Watch offers a huge list of 78 resources for every internet marketer’s toolkit
- Facebook remains one of the key resources for building your brand online. Happily, Entrepreneur takes a look at the pros and cons of Facebook’s Business Page facelift.
- And, of course, the reason this all matters is that, at least in the United States, smartphone owners now outnumber other mobile users. Just something to think about.
Have a great weekend, Big Thinkers. See you back here next week.
