SEO Yourself (Small Business E-commerce Link Digest – April 27, 2012)
I’ve spent some time this week suggesting how you can get job creators to find you and how to get the job once you’re talking to those folks. But sometimes it’s good to get back to some basics. So, here are a set of fantastic SEO tips that you can apply to yourself as well as your business:
- Linda Bustos at GetElastic recaps a recent Google video on the SEO mistake you don’t want to make. If you just want to watch the video, take a look below.
- They say a picture is worth a thousand words. And with tools like Pinterest, Tumblr and image search, don’t discount the value of high-quality images. In fact, Frank Reed’s suggests that images might define your online image moving forward. They might sometimes save yourself 1,000 words worth of writing, too.
- Keeping up with all the changes in the marketing universe can drive a person batty. But Bryan Eisenberg’s advice on online advertising in the age of agility can help you sort out those challenges.
- Speaking of keeping up with change, Rand Fishkin at SEOmoz looks at the myths, realities and precautions of negative SEO (I’ve embedded that video below, too).
- And, finally, remember that you’re not just writing for search engines, you’re writing for people. But if you’re not convinced, Rob Petersen of BarnRaisers provides a great list of 25 reasons to write for your audience before search engines.
