Tricks and Treats: Your 10 Favorite Topics This Month (October 2013)

Trick or Treat!Halloween’s in the air. The Google Doodle today is a fun witch-themed animation/game. Android is due to introduce its KitKat update any day now. And the kiddies are out collecting KitKats and other candy from their friends and neighbors. Seems like a good time to offer you some treats and share this month’s top posts, too. So, here you go:

  1. My Travel Tuesday series blew up this past month, collecting two of the top 3 spots, including this entry at #1: “Warning: Mobile Drives Booking Costs Up and 4 Ways to Prevent It”.
  2. My weekly marketing podcast, Thinks Out Loud also had a strong showing this month, beginning with Episode 44, “Google’s SEO Shutdown?”
  3. I already talked about how much you enjoyed the Travel Tuesday series this month. Her’es our second entrant into the countdown, “Does Metasearch Force You to Lower Prices?” Other popular series entries included “The Myth of Offline Travelers,” which only went live this week, and “How Do You Know Your Social or Mobile Marketing is Working?”
  4. Coming in at #4, we’ve got this quick piece explaining “The Customer, Man. It’s All About the Customer.”
  5. One of the trends worth watching as we head into next year is the growth potential of mobile payments. Which is probably why you all liked this post. “Mobile Payments are Getting Huge. But It’s Just the Tip of the Iceberg.”
  6. My Book Review of the Week-ish made a triumphant return last month (taking the top spot in last month’s countdown). This month, you liked my review of “The Master Switch” by Tim Wu
  7. Lots of thoughts (or, should I say, Thinks?) this month about taking care of your customer and proving yourself trustworthy, including this post at #7, “Can Your Customers Really Trust You?” And if you like that, you may also want to check out “Retailers and Consumer Tracking: One Fatal Mistake to Avoid”.
  8. You really liked another Thinks Out Loud episode, this time it was Episode 47, our look at “The Shocking Truth About M-Commerce, iPads, iOS and Android”.
  9. Getting ready for next year’s budget? Then you might want to look at “The Amazon Guide to Marketing Budgets” when you get a chance.
  10. Finally, rounding out the Top 10, we’ve got another episode of Thinks Out Loud, “What’s E-commerce Mean Today, Anyway?”

Enjoy these treats, then go out and scare up some business. Your competitors won’t have a ghost of a chance against you… and won’t know “witch” way to turn (Ugh, I know. Somebody stop me).

Did I mention it’s Halloween?
