Summer Reading List Week 4 – The hits keep on coming…
The Web is a humbling experience. No matter how much you think you know what’s out there, no matter how on top of “the latest and greatest” you think you are, a thousand times more information exists out there that you can use. That’s a huge key to social networking and the like, because it expands your ability to connect with others who might have that crucial bit of information you’re looking for. Or at least point you to a funny video.
Mark Frauenfelder has a great book out now, called “Rule the Web.” I usually don’t go in for books like these. Not only do they not age well, they also generally feel like “The Internet for Dummies” or something. Not this one. It feels like you’ve tapped into the smartest guy in your network, with every entry pointing you towards some useful site or tool you didn’t know you needed. You do. And you need this book. It may not point you to funny videos, but it just might make you the smartest person in your network.
