The Top 9 Marketing and E-commerce All-Star Blogs
Right around this time every year, baseball celebrates its All Stars, picking the best players from around the league to recognize their accomplishments. But who are the All Stars of the online marketing and e-commerce world? As starved as we are for time every day, as pressed as we are for attention, who can we call on to make sure we put the ball in play, get a hit, drive in some runs? Who can we rely on when we’ve got to hit one out of the park?
There are loads of other great blogs that cover online marketing and e-commerce out there (you should tell us your favorites in the comments). But for me, these are the 9 blogs we wouldn’t win the game without:
- Mike Moran Biznology – Sometimes it’s not just what you do, it’s why you do it. In other words, perspective. That’s what Mike Moran and his team at Biznology offer: The right perspective to help make you a better marketer.
- Seth Godin – Sometimes it’s not just what to do… oh, waitaminnit. I just said that. OK, how about this: no one thinks about marketing quite the same as Seth. He doesn’t just tell you what to do. He helps you think about why you should.
- GetElastic – Of course, marketing to customers eventually has to turn into sales. And, if you want to do that online, few look at how best to do that as well as Linda Bustos and Jason Billingsley at GetElastic. Good people, good information, good writing. What more could you want?
- GrokDotCom – Every team needs a clean-up hitter, a big bopper in the middle of the line-up who can really change the game. The Flying Eisenberg Brothers – Bryan and Jeffrey – and their team at GrokDotCom do just that by looking at e-commerce and how you can try to turn every visitor into a sale.
- Duct Tape Marketing – Of course, a team with only one big hitter wouldn’t be much of an All-Star team, would it? John Jantsch is a key player you can count on when you need new ways to think about marketing. I learn something every day.
- Rimm-Kaufman Group – This part of the line-up is where we start to get to the specialists. For many businesses, PPC advertising is synonymous with online marketing. And few people get paid search as well as the folks at RKG.
- SEOmoz Daily SEO Blog – What’s paid search without its natural complement, natural search? Rand Fishkin and his team at SEOmoz will teach you everything you need to know about SEO and do it in way that’s as welcome as a cup of coffee on a cold day. Funny that they’re from Seattle, too, no?
- Occam’s Razor by Avinash Kaushik – Of course, great marketing can be made all the better if you know how your customers use it. Long-time Friend of thinks Avinash Kaushik does a phenomenal job explaining how exactly you can find out.
- Kevin Hillstrom’s Mine That Data – Finally, understanding your customers’ behavior requires you to look both online and offline. Kevin Hillstrom spends part of his time helping businesses understand those behaviors and the rest explaining how you can, too.
That’s my line-up, the folks I want going to bat for me. Did I leave your favorite on the bench? Tell us about it in the comments. And let’s get ready for the second half of the season. Play ball!
